Ingredients

For the crust
  • 1 can 16.3 oz refrigerated biscuit dough
For the sausage gravy
  • 1 lb ground breakfast sausage Feel free to swap for a plant-based alternative.
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk Can substitute with almond milk.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
For the cheesy layer
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Consider substituting with white cheddar for a sharper taste.
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives Optional for garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the biscuits.
  2. Roll each biscuit on a lightly floured surface until they are about 1/4-inch thick. Arrange them on a greased 12-inch pizza pan, pressing the edges together to form a crust.
  3. Bake for around 10 minutes until lightly golden, then remove and set aside.
Making the gravy
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage while breaking it apart. Once fully cooked, transfer the sausage to a paper towel-lined plate.
  2. Add the flour to the skillet, stirring for about 2 minutes to create a roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in the whole milk until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Season with black pepper and salt, then return the cooked sausage to the gravy.
Egg scramble and assembly
  1. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and cook them in a non-stick skillet over medium heat, stirring gently until softly scrambled. Set aside.
  2. Spread the sausage gravy evenly over the pre-baked biscuit crust. Layer the scrambled eggs on top and sprinkle the cheddar cheese all over.
  3. Return the assembled pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  4. Once it's out of the oven, sprinkle fresh chives if desired. Slice into wedges and serve warm.

Notes

To elevate flavors, consider adding different seasonings or toppings such as sautéed bell peppers or mushrooms. You can also prep ingredients the night before for easier assembly in the morning.
