  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4-5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced Use a mandolin for even slicing.
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese Feel free to experiment with different cheese varieties.
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 0.5 cup beef broth or water Water can be substituted.
  • 0.25 cup milk (optional) For creaminess.
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, cooking until it’s browned, and drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in chopped onions and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion becomes soft and fragrant.
  4. Layer the cooked beef into the greased dish, followed by the thinly sliced potatoes. Season the layers with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  5. Generously top with shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan cheese. Pour beef broth around the edges for added moisture.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
