Ingredients

  • 1 pound baby potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar can substitute with honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds for garnish
  • to taste green onions for garnish (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Wash the baby potatoes thoroughly and place them in a pot.
  2. Pour in the water, soy sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and sesame oil.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer.
Cooking
  1. Cover the pot and let it cook for about 20 minutes, or until the potatoes become tender.
  2. Uncover the pot and allow the sauce to thicken for a few minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Once the sauce beautifully clings to the potatoes, remove the pot from heat.
  4. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and add chopped green onions for a pop of color and flavor.
  5. Serve warm, either as a side dish or a standalone treat.

Notes

Korean Braised Potatoes can be served warm as a side dish alongside grilled meats or plated on a bed of steamed rice. Leftovers should cool completely before storing in an airtight container. They can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
