Preparation
- Mix the warm water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the olive oil and the yeast mixture.
- Stir the mixture until a dough forms, then knead it on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm spot for about an hour or until it doubles in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions. Flatten each piece into a circle.
- Place a chunk of mozzarella in the center of each circle, fold the dough around it, and pinch the edges to seal.
- Arrange the filled dough balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and cover with a cloth. Allow them to rise for an additional 30 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the breads are golden brown.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze for up to three months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through.
