Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, mix the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt together.
- Pour in the melted butter and vanilla extract, stirring until well combined. Use your fingers to mix until you achieve large crumbs.
- Press about two-thirds of the crumb mixture into the bottom of the pan and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Assembly
- In a bowl, combine the chopped strawberries with granulated sugar and flour, tossing to coat.
- Spread the strawberry mixture evenly over the cooled crust.
- Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the strawberries and bake for another 30-35 minutes, until bubbling and golden.
Finishing Touch
- Once cooled, whisk together the powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla for the glaze and drizzle it over the cooled bars.
- Slice into 12 squares and serve.
Notes
To maintain freshness, keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze bars wrapped in plastic wrap and placed in a freezer-safe zip-top bag for up to three months.
