- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until you achieve a smooth consistency.
- Carefully fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, being cautious not to overmix.
Frying
- In a deep fryer or heavy pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, frying for 2-3 minutes or until they turn a lovely golden brown.
- Use a slotted spoon to take the beignets out, allowing excess oil to drain onto paper towels.
- Generously dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 10 minutes.
