Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup milk Can substitute with almond or oat milk for a dairy-free version.
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Frying
  • Vegetable oil For frying.
  • Powdered sugar For dusting before serving.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until you achieve a smooth consistency.
  3. Carefully fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, being cautious not to overmix.
Frying
  1. In a deep fryer or heavy pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, frying for 2-3 minutes or until they turn a lovely golden brown.
  3. Use a slotted spoon to take the beignets out, allowing excess oil to drain onto paper towels.
  4. Generously dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 10 minutes.
